Understanding Learning Media

Media is a container of messages that the source of the message or the distributors want to be forwarded to the target or recipient of the message. While the media according to the Basuki Romiszowski Wibawa and Farida Mukti (2001), states that the messenger who comes from a source of the message (which can be either people or objects) to the recipient.

Arief S. Sadiman (2002) states that the methodology of teaching each other there are two aspects that stand out the methods of teaching and learning media as teaching aids. According to Arsyad (2002: 12) "Learning Media is a tool that serves to convey the message of learning". Medium of learning is one component of supporting the success of the learning process. Based on the opinions of the above, the researchers concluded instructional media is an apparatus or containers used to convey a message of learning in the process of interaction of learners and educators with a learning resource in a learning environment.

The characteristics of different media according to the purpose of learning and classification. The characteristics of the media can be viewed according to its ability to generate excitement in the senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. Thus, in general, and A. Robert Angkowo Kosasih (2007: 11) suggests "The characteristics of learning media is the media that can be touched, seen, heard, and observed through the five senses".
